Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $6 PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
A high grade example from this Yorktown issue that has always been considered the scarcest of all the Continental issues. Although these were heavily counterfeited, this particular denomination was not one of those deceptive notes. There are no Uncirculated examples in the PMG population report and PCGS has yet to release a Continental or Colonial report. The highest third party graded note that we have handled was a PCGS 45 that realized $1,495 at our 2010 ANA auction. This note is a wonderful example of the grade with all eight margins primarily wide and clear of the engraving at all points. Both signatures remain strong and the note has excellent eye appeal.
