    Description

Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $40 PMG About Uncirculated 50.
The $40 denomination seems to be the most common of the Yorktown counterfeits, Newman lists five different varieties and others have been reported for a possible total of eight or nine distinct $40 counterfeits. Genuine notes of the $40 denomination are seldom seen and when they are they tend to be very well circulated pieces. This nice AU is decently margined, with the brown signature remaining strong, and the nature print having more detail than what is typically seen.
