    Description

Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $40 Contemporary Counterfeit PCGS Apparent Choice About New 58.
Based on its diagnostics, this contemporary counterfeit most closely resembles Newman Counterfeit 2.1, but there are some distinctive differences most notable in the word Forty to the right of the Serial Number. It is possible that this is a new variety and unlisted. In our 2019 Central States Auction we sold a Forty Dollar Yorktown from a different plate in a PCGS AU 50 holder for $1,320.
