Rare September 26, 1778 Half SheetContinental Currency September 26, 1778 Uncut Half Sheet of $60-$50-$40-$30/$20-$8-$7-$5 Notes Fr. CC-86 to CC-79. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 Apparent.
All Continental Currency sheets and panes are rare. This is a half-sheet, or pane of eight notes, comprising a compete denomination set-including two newly introduced $50 and $60 denominations at the upper left of the pane. Tightly margined without selvedge. All are numbered and signed by Gaither and Snowden. The printing clarity is sharp. The pane has seen some handling, but is noted only with "Small Splits." This is a very attractive display piece that is worth more than the sum of its parts.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
