DescriptionContinental Currency September 26, 1778 Half Sheet of Eight Extremely Fine.
This is a very nice example of one of the more available Continental multiples. Although the most common of Continental half sheets, all that we have seen are in approximately this condition. No fully margined, truly high grade example is known either to us or to our consignor. All eight denominations of the issue are present and all eight are crisp. The sheet has generally been quarter folded vertically down the middle and horizontally roughly between each pair of notes. There is some light back discoloration on a couple of the notes and several of the signatures show some degree of bleed through. We note three very small juncture holes where two folds intersect. The last half sheet that we sold was in August 2010 as part of the Patriotic American collection. It was a raw Extremely Fine sheet that realized $3,737.50.
Estimate: $2,750 - up.
