Double Continental Sheet of September 26, 1778 Blue Detector NotesContinental Currency September 26, 1778 $5 Counterfeit Detector Double Sheet $5, $7, $8, $20, $30, $40, $50, and $60 PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 45.
Two notes of each denomination are present on this lovely sheet. PCGS has assigned the Apparent grade for "Repaired Splits and Tears; Small Pieces Replaced." The sheet is bright and almost all of the individual notes are problem-free. The repairs are minor and this blue paper Double Detector Sheet has its wide margins and tons of eye appeal. In January 2005, we sold a slightly nicer Double Detector Sheet from this same date for $4,600. That was a nicer sheet but the increase in market price will likely cause this example to bring more than the other sheet did nine years ago.
