Wide-Margined November 29, 1775 $5 NoteContinental Currency November 29, 1775 $5 Fr. CC-15. PCGS Choice About New 58.
This is another very fresh note, once the sheet-mate to the $2 note prior, with excellent paper originality and sharp printing. The face margins are extremely wide and even, providing a beautiful frame. The centering on both sides is perfect. Strongly penned signatures of Joseph Watkins, Jr. and Nicholas Garrison are at lower right. The emblem shows a hand bleeding from thorn pricks; the motto is SUSTINE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up). This note is nearly exceptional in eye appeal and has all the attributes of a PPQ note.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
