Scarce Uncirculated Continental DeuceContinental Currency November 29, 1775 $2 PCGS Apparent New 61.
Coombe and Bond's signatures remain intact on this delightfully high grade Continental deuce. PCGS notes minor mounting remnants on the back, but all we see is an area of light discoloration at top center on the front. Blessed with three broad and even margins but discounted somewhat for the tight top margin. Uncirculated examples of this note are quite scarce, and we sold our first example just a year ago. That PCGS Very Choice New 64 realized $4406.25, and in our Central States Auction this year, we had a PCGS Gem New 65PPQ realize $4700. While this note is not quite in the same league as those two, according to the Population Reports it appears to be the fourth-nicest example.
