DescriptionContinental Currency November 2, 1776 $30 PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 Net.
This is the only Continental denomination with a double vignette on the back rather than the nature print. The twin vignettes on the back of the Thirty Dollar denomination were utilized on 5 different issues: May 10, 1775, July 22, 1776, November 2, 1776, February 26, 1777 and May 20, 1777. The $30 notes in the final issues utilized nature prints on the backs. The double vignettes are the same two that appear face and back on the Twenty Dollar May 10, 1775 Marbled Edge note. Both were designed by Franklin, and Franklin's original sketch for the VI CONCITATE vignette appears on page 78 of the Fifth Edition Newman. PMG net graded this Choice CU note for previous mounting and a minor repair, which is just a sealed edge nick in the top margin. In our Long Beach Auction, we sold a PMG Choice AU 58 EPQ note for $998.75, and in April we offered a PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ note that was taken home for $2585.
