Continental Currency May 9, 1776 Blue Counterfeit Detector $1 PCGS New 62.
From the John J. Ford Jr. Collection. A really scarce note that has the look and feel of a near gem. We have not sold any individual examples from this entire issue with the only counterfeit detectors we have sold being a sheet in 2005. PMG has not graded any $1 blue detectors from this issue which should make this a real prize. If this were a regularly issued note it would reach the four figure level, but as a counterfeit detector it is still quite scarce, particularly so in this grade.
