    Breathtaking Quality May 9, 1776 $5 Note-Superb Gem New 68PPQ

Continental Currency May 9, 1776 $5 Fr. CC-35. PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ.
A second stunning May 9, 1776 note, also graded Superb Gem New 68PPQ by PCGS, and atop the PCGS population report. Like its former sheet-mate, the $4 note offered in this Newman Part VII sale, two full grades above three Gem New 66PPQ PCGS notes of the type. On the emblem, the motto SUSTENE VEL ABSTINE (Either survive or give up) accompanies the image of a hand that gathers food and bleeds from thorn pricks. The printing clarity on both sides is magnificent like the previous, with deep inks and inspired details, particularly on the rich, dark nature print back. Face and back margins are even, and boardwalk width; corners are razor sharp. This is another Continental note destined for a collection of the finest caliber.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
