Rare "First United States Issue" Blue Detector SheetContinental Currency May 20, 1777 Uncut Single Pane Sheet of $30-$2-$3-$4/$8-$7-$6-$5 Blue Counterfeit Detector Notes Fr. CC-70DT-CC-63DT-CC-65DT/CC-69DT-CC-66DT. PCGS Extremely Fine 40 Apparent.
This is another rarity as a detector sheet and one of the few we have encountered. The denomination array is the same as the prior two resolutions, February 26, 1777 and July 22, 1776. This is the first issue where "United States" replaced "United Colonies." There are gutter folds between all the notes. Noted are "Edge Tears at Top Left and Center." The eye appeal, though, is excellent and this is a key blue detector sheet.

A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
