Continental Currency May 20, 1777 $4 PCGS Choice About New 55. This issue is the second scarcest in the Continental series. This very lightly handled $4 is well printed and well signed with good detail on both the face and back. The emblem with a boar charging into a spear is quite clear along with the motto AUT MORS AUT VITA DECORA (either death or an honorable life). The border cuts were changed from "UNITED COLONIES" to "UNITED STATES" beginning with this issue. This example was signed by R. Johnson and Thomas Donnellan.
