    49,000 $6 notes were authorized and placed in circulation in August, 1775 as part of the first Continental Congress issue intended to fund the initial expenses of the Independence effort. The face features an emblem of a beaver gnawing on a tree with the motto PERSEVERANDO (by perseverance) on the face and a nature print of a buttercup leaf on the back. Well margined and printed on bright paper with few signs of any time spent in circulation.
