Marbled Edge Continental $20Continental Currency May 10, 1775 $20 PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 40.
This marbled-edge Continental note is unlike any other from the entire series of 102 different pieces. These $20 notes were printed on weak, thin white paper that was furnished by Benjamin Franklin. The left end of the notes had a polychrome multicolor anticounterfeiting device that gave the notes a distinctly different appearance. They were also considerably wider and shorter than any other Continentals were. The back of this example, as on all known pieces, is inverted. The present example, like so many, has been repaired, which has caused PCGS to assign the Apparent grade, but the work (and there is a fair amount of it) is quite well done and the appearance of the note is that of Solid VF-XF.
