Continental Currency July 22, 1776 $4 PCGS Choice About New 58.Incredibly broadly margined with bold signatures, razor sharp printing, and unimpeachable eye appeal. The 58 grade, while it may or may not be technically correct, does nothing to dictate the value of this note. Both services combined have graded four uncirculated examples of this note, which they may or may not be. It is an extreme rarity at the top grade with neither service having graded anything higher than 64. This note has the eye appeal and the full look of a 68. It is equal in appearance to the finest note this cataloger has seen in 50 plus years of dealing in Continental Currency. Collectors in this area seem to instinctively know that for value, eye appeal is far more important than bending and twisting a note hunting for a minor fold. While this note will only bring a third or less than what it would realize in a Superb Gem holder, it would be one of the most attractive notes in a Superb Gem set. Just remember to keep your thumb on the 58 when showing it off.
