DescriptionContinental Currency July 22, 1776 $2 Very Fine.
The Newman reference does not list any known counterfeits for this denomination from this issue, however this appears to be a contemporary counterfeit. Several characteristics have led to that conclusion- the emblem appears off, the paper is a bit too thin, and the signature of Morris does not appear genuine. Regardless, the note is well margined and well printed. Mounting remnants and stains, along with tears, are observed.
