DescriptionContinental Currency February 17, 1776 $2/3 PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ. Nicely margined, this lightly circulated $2/3 note earned the EPQ designation from PMG. Nicholas Garrison was the signer of this plate letter A example. The fractional notes for this issue are smaller in size than the larger denominations. Elisha Gallaudet prepared the devices and border cuts for the fractionals. Benjamin Franklin's sundial rebus and linked Colonies designs were used and add to the appeal of these Continentals. Gallaudet (circa 1728-1779) is perhaps best known for his work as an engraver of the Continental Currency $1 coin. He also engraved several of the New York paper money issues, including Water Works notes.
