DescriptionContinental Currency February 17, 1776 $2/3 PCGS Gem New 66PPQ.
This is the only Continental issue that contained these Fractional denominations. They are extremely popular with collectors, largely due to the use of Ben Franklin's sundial vignette on the face and the thirteen chain links, containing the names of the original colonies, surrounding "We are One" on the back. These devices were adapted for the 1776 Continental Dollar coins and the 1787 Fugio Cent. This PCGS 66 PPQ example should see strong bidder competition. In 2009, we sold a PMG 64 EPQ for just a hair under $2,000.
