DescriptionContinental Currency February 17, 1776 $1 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
For all the attention that the Fugio fractional denomination notes receive, those are by far much more commonly seen (like in every major sale) than are better grade $1 notes such as this. Only found in five of the eleven Continental series and one of the most popularly collected denominations. The last Ace that we sold from this series in EF condition was way back in 2010. That PMG EF 45 realized $299 while, as a point of reference, the Fugio fractional denomination note in similar grade sold for around $600 in that same sale. The present note has sizeable margins and that all-natural look of a note that has not had trimmed edges or any other restorative work performed.
