Continental Currency February 17, 1776 $1 PCGS Superb Gem New
67PPQ."This Superb Gem is the finest note graded at either service by two full points. PCGS has graded this 67 with a single 65 below it. PMG has graded two 65s with nothing higher. Track & Price indicates the highest third party graded note to reach the market was a PCGS 64, which we sold last April for $2064. Standout Continentals of which this note certainly is one, have been reaching record levels. We would certainly anticipate a very strong price for this irreplaceable beauty." That was our description in January of 2016 when this note ran far past its estimate range and realized $14,100. None of the census data has changed in the past 18 months, and the note certainly deserves every point of its assigned grade. Were it in a 68 holder, we would not begin to question it. An incredible Continental that will certainly realize a solid price, though we doubt it will equal its previous realization.
