One of Only Two Uncirculated $6 Yorktown Notes Reported by Both Services Combined
Continental Currency April 11, 1778 $6 PCGS Gem New 66.Both services together have graded only two Uncirculated Six Dollar Yorktown notes. The highest example graded by PMG is a lone 58, and the highest at PCGS is a 66PPQ, with this 66 and only AUs below them. The margins are incredible, and the overall appearance is just what one would expect from a high-end Gem PCGS Continental. Although counterfeits are very common for this issue, this $6 denomination (along with the $30) was not known to have been counterfeited, although the $6 and $30 notes were also pulled from circulation in the recall of this issue. When this note last sold it realized $6,462 and it should just about equal that this evening.
