DescriptionContinental Currency April 11, 1778 $40 Contemporary Counterfeit PCGS Apparent About New 50.
Placed in the Apparent holder for a stain which is above the vignette and near the serial number. Save for that stain, this is a beautiful, well signed, Continental Counterfeit. These Tory counterfeits were so pervasive that the issue was called in, accounting for its rarity today. These are always popular with collectors of Colonial Currency as well as students of economic history, as they are a tangible example of economic warfare. There are a number of different varieties of this Counterfeit, some of which are more obvious; this is one of the more deceptive ones.
