DescriptionContinental Currency April 11, 1778 $20 PCGS Choice New 63PPQ.
There are three uncirculated third party examples of this note. PMG has not graded any and PCGS has graded two 63s and a lone 67. That 67 was in our Newman Auction last October and it realized $11,750. We have sold only five genuine twenty dollar Yorktowns in all grades combined. The AU 58 PPQ that was part of our Patriot American Collection realized $3450 in 2010 and our more recent 58 PPQ in the Continental Congress Collection last year realized $4465. This lovely 63 seems to be superb in every respect but for the somewhat tight margins which don't support a grade higher than choice. The back is beautifully centered, but the face has two normal size margins and two very tight margins though all four face margins are complete and clear of the frame line.
