PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ $20 Yorktown Continental with Superb Gem AppearanceContinental Currency April 11, 1778 $20 PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ.
"PMG's highest graded example is a 53. PCGS has graded this and one other 58PPQ with two 63's above them. Even at this 58 level, this handsome, beautifully margined note is tied with one other for the third finest known. A wonderfully high grade piece from the same sheet as the three Gems above, and while technically a far lower grade, it shares their terrific eye appeal. In our August, 2010 Auction of the Patriotic American Collection, we sold the other PCGS 58PPQ for $3,450." This was our description when we sold this same note for $4465 less than a year ago as part of the Continental Congress collection. This note is incredibly margined with ideal color, dead on centering of both sides, excellent signatures, and the finest eye appeal one would ever hope to find for a $20 Yorktown note. The paper appears to show more sheet wrinkling than any actual folds. The aesthetic appeal is that of a superb gem note and the $20 denomination is one of the toughest to obtain from this scarcest Continental emission.
