DescriptionHartford & New Haven Turnpike 1799 12¢ 5 mills PCGS New 62.
The paper for this issue is actually two maps glued face-to-face, portions of which can clearly be seen when the notes are held to a bright light. These special scrip notes were used as toll tickets on the old Hartford & New Haven Turnpike, which is basically the current Route 91. This denomination pictures a horse and loaded wagon. Each of the denominations was pictorially keyed to the item that could pass the toll gate for that amount. This is an unsigned Remainder, and as a New 62 is quite desirable.
Estimate: $400 - up.
