    Description

Connecticut March 1, 1780 40s Contemporary Counterfeit PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30. This contemporary counterfeit does not appear to have been found out as there are no markings on it indicating it was discovered to be a counterfeit. The 40 shilling denomination was the highest for this issue and as such was counterfeited as was often the case. According to the notation on the holder, PCGS assigned the apparent grade due to edge damage and a tear at right. Colonial counterfeits are very collectible.
