Burlington, NJ- James Craft August 6, 1776 9 Pence PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35.
"A private small-change circulating note listed on page 262 of the fifth edition of Newman. He describes only the 2d note. The 3d, 8d, and 9d notes are without a description. None of the four of the denominations have values." That was our description when we previously sold this note. Since then, two other examples have appeared in our Newman sales, a 2d graded PCGS Apparent Very Fine 35 Apparent which sold for $2,830 and a 4d graded PCGS Apparent Fine 15 that sold for $1,292. This note, which is graded Apparent 35 for restorations is extremely good looking and the restorations appear to be simple strengthening of the vertical center fold.
