    Description

Blue Counterfeit Detector Continental Currency January 14, 1779 $3 PMG Choice About Unc 58.
A very nearly Uncirculated example, this piece was once part of the Midnight Ride Collection. Blue counterfeit detectors are seldom seen from the 1779 issue. We observe during our examination that the two-color face printing on the blue paper produces a very attractive piece. This particular counterfeit detector is marked in the signature block, "Bill for Proof," which was occasionally done to prevent the counterfeit detectors from being falsely signed and put into circulation.
