Standard Bank of Canada Issued $50Toronto, ON- The Standard Bank of Canada $50 Dec. 1, 1890 Ch. # 695-12-04
An elusive Canadian charter note which we have not had the pleasure to offer until now. According to Charlton, just six examples are known to have survived with two of those in institutional collections with the current value of a note listed in VF at $16,000. Today's example features bank president W.F. Cowan at left along with a a woman operating telegraph equipment at center. Decent color remains on the face despite the circulation encountered. PMG Very Fine 25, with mention made of small tears.
Estimate: $12,500 - $17,500.
