Rare Bank of Summerside 1884 $1

    Summerside, PEI- The Summerside Bank $1 Dec. 1, 1884 Ch. # 705-14-04
Any example from this small but successful banking establishment can be counted as just plain rare, as the records of the Bank of Canada report just $43 outstanding from this institution, which was absorbed by the Bank of New Brunswick in 1901. While the accuracy of that figure can be debated, not one of the bank's issues has more than single digits known for each denomination, with this plain back 1884 note the most "common" with seven specimens reported, including one in an institutional holding. PMG Very Good 10, with no real defects save for even circulation.
