    Description

    St. John's, NF- Newfoundland Government Cash Note 40¢ 1901 Ch. # NF-2a.
These notes were used by the Government of Newfoundland for public and marine works projects as well as welfare payments. The "black and white" notes of the 1901-1909 period are much rarer than their multi-colored counterparts of 1910-1914 and are seldom encountered. This evenly circulated and well margined Very Fine example is one of barely a dozen pieces for this year in private hands, according to the Charlton reference. A few minor stains are noted for the sake of cataloging accuracy.
