Description

    St. John's, NF - Government of Newfoundland $1 Jan. 2, 1920 Ch. # NF-12b
The Newfoundland Treasury Notes of 1920 were issued to deal with a shortage of silver coin (precipitated, as Charlton notes, by the withdrawal of the cash notes) at a time when the price of silver was very high on world markets. By 1939, about 99% of the total amount of these notes printed had been redeemed and destroyed. PMG Very Good 10, with even wear and good color for the grade.

    Estimate: $300 - $400.
