    Description

    Province of Alberta Prosperity Certificate $1 Aug. 5, 1936 Ch. # A-1
This Great Depression issue was sponsored by the government of the province of Alberta. The holder of each note was required to affix a 1¢ stamp on the back of the scrip each week. This PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ example is without any of those adhesive stamps. It is also by far the nicest example of this number that we have ever offered. We had a PMG AU 55 EPQ Ch. # A-1 bring $329 last January. These certificates are discussed in more detail on pages 8 and 9 of the 25th edition of the Charlton reference.
