    Description

Montreal, PQ- The Bank of Montreal $4 Feb. 6, 1871 Ch. # 505-34-02
The issue of 1871 was the first from The Bank of Montreal since confederation in 1867, with the $4 note representing the lowest denomination the bank could now issue, the issuance of denominations below that amount having been reserved to the Federal Government. This is an exceedingly rare note in all grades, and is priced only from Good through Fine in Charlton. Very Good+.
