    Montreal, CE- The Merchants Bank $1 June 1, 1864 Ch. # 455-10-12
    The institution that issued this note only used The Merchants Bank title for four years before changing its name to The Merchants Bank of Canada in 1868. A scarce charter bank evidenced by the Charlton value of $5000 in VG. This example has been graded by PCGS as Apparent Fine 12 for various splits and tears.
