Description

Malbay, LC- St. Lawrence Bank & Lumber Company $1 circa 1837 Ch. # 665-10-02
This spurious bank was a fraud perpetuated by, according to the Charlton reference, "some rogues from Buffalo during the summer of 1837. Their paper circulated to some extent in the Buffalo area, but not in Canada." This is only the second time that we have been able to offer a note on this bank. Also, an interesting write-up about the bank is stuck to the back of this note. There is no charge for this write-up. Good with a missing upper right corner. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
