    Description

    DC-3a $2 1870
This was the highest denomination issued in the 1870 series, as $4 notes were not issued until 1882 and denominations of $5 and above were reserved for issuance by chartered banks. All of the 1870 $2 notes are quite scarce, with most in the Good or low Very Good range. This unmolested piece is a happy exception, garnering a grade of Very Good 10 from PMG.
