Description

Bright and Appealing 1911 $1000 Specimen

DC-20S $1000 1911 Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
This beautiful blue and black Specimen note depicts a more youthful George V, who bears a striking resemblance to his cousin, Czar Nicholas II of Russia. Only 34,000 notes were printed with a total of two presently known outstanding; one in private hands and one in institutional hands. The note has four small POCs in the signature spaces, solid zero serial numbers, and is stamped SPECIMEN in red in the lower left corner. PMG notes that this example has been previously mounted although that evidence is faint and difficult to locate through the holder. Given the extremely remote chance of ever owning an issued example and the rarity of this Specimen, we expect this note to attract spirited bidding interest.
