DescriptionDC-1c 25 Cents 1870
The first "shinplaster" note was issued as a response to the large flow of US 25 cent and 50 cent that was depreciated and threatening the profits of those who accepted it. These notes served as a temporary stopgap until newly minted Canadian 25 cent coins arrived from the Royal Mint, but were so popular that they were in circulation for the next 65 years. PMG Very Fine 20.
