Description

    Clifton, PC - The Bank of Clifton $1 Nov. 1, 1859 Ch. # 125-10-02-02
This bank was one of the more scandalous affairs in Canadian banking history. It succeeded the Zimmerman Bank, and, after a change in ownership, was operated by a set of bankers who issued notes with no intention whatever of redeeming them. An example of the scarcer first variety from this bank with two signatures, it grades Very Fine with nice color and bold signatures but does have an inch long internal split along a fold line.
