    Description

    Clifton, PC - Bank of Clifton $2 Sep. 1, 1861 Ch. # 125-12-12
The charter for this bank was granted on June 2, 1858. In 1859, the ownership was transferred to Chicago interests who had no intention of redeeming notes which they previously issued. As a result, the charter was withdrawn on August 31, 1863. Whatever its background, this is an attractive red and black example depicting St. George slaying a dragon. Choice About Uncirculated, with just light handling and a "Sassenberg & Co. Buenos Ayres" overprint on the back.
