DescriptionCharlotte Town, PEI- The Bank of Prince Edward Island $2 Jan. 1, 1877 Ch. # 600-12-08.
This is a denomination from the 1877 issue that we have offered only twice before. This bank was a successful and conservatively managed institution until a new cashier was appointed in 1876. Within a year, the bank became insolvent due to a series of large advances made by the cashier under false pretenses and by 1881 its doors had closed forever. PMG Very Good 10, with some minor residue and rust stains.
