Canada- Neys, ON Prisoner of War Camp 100 Canteen 1¢ Oct. 1 - Dec. 31, 1944
This POW internment camp was located on the north shore of Lake Superior. It operated from January 1941 until March 1946. The population varied between German POWs and Japanese Canadian Internees. The German soldiers were split into two groups, the grays which were ordinary soldiers and the blacks which were diehard Nazis. The POWs were called upon to assist in the logging industry. This Type 2 one cent note for us in the canteen has been graded by PCGS as Apparent Choice About New 55 for a minor paperclip stain.
