Devil's Face $1000

Canada Bank of Canada $1000 1954 Pick 73 BC-36 "Devil's Face" PCGS Banknote About UNC 53.
Seldom seen in any grade, examples of this variety are widely sought after as such. The "Devil's Face" design in the hair of Queen Elizabeth II was an honest and unintended consequence of the design. After this series was released in 1954, the public began to notice what they saw as a grinning demon! The Bank of Canada acknowledged the design flaw and modified the hairstyling in 1956. This highest denomination banknote had the smallest print total of the series, and is assuredly the rarest note to feature the "Devil's Hair" design. This lightly circulated example would be a welcomed addition to many collections across multiple fields of interest in the hobby.
From the Adem Karisik Collection of Canada
