    BC-17FP/BP $500 1935 Face and Back Proofs
A gorgeous pair of English version Face and Back Proofs, well-centered and mounted on cardstock. The face grades PCGS Very Choice New 64, hole-punch cancelled and with the back grading PCGS Superb Gem New 68PPQ, also hole-punch cancelled. The cancels more appropriately should be termed "shadow cancels" as they have barely disturbed the paper. The $500 denomination was retired permanently in July 1938. Collectors possess only nine issued English language $500s, while there are no known French $500s in private collections, according to the Canadian Paper Money Society Note Registry 2013. This in turn puts upward pressure on the few $500 Proofs in the numismatic community. We had a PCGS 68PPQ Face and Back Proof pair with shadow cancels bring $6462.50 in April 2014. The difference between the current Proofs and the 2014 Proofs is miniscule. (Total: 2 notes)
