Fr. 123 $10 1923 Legal Tender Superb Gem New. This 1923 Ten from the Sedona Collection has strict paper originality, gorgeous margins and spectacular eye appeal. Unlike most uncirculated Fr. 123's, this note is not from the final pack. This note, which is unreported in the census, is the first note of a serial-number run of three that were randomly preserved. Both of the other two notes have sale histories from 1981, which is when this note was originally purchased for this collection.

Fr. 222 $1 1891 Silver Certificate Superb Gem New. Fr. 222's are outnumbered over three to one by their type mate, Fr. 223. The balance tilts considerably further when uncirculated notes are considered, with 223 being rather common, and 222 decidedly rare. This piece from the Sedona collection is simply perfection itself, with its readily apparent, deep original embossing, huge margins, ideal centering of both sides, snow-white paper and bright, flashy ink colors. No nicer example of this note could exist, and we rather doubt anyone can come up with a tie. If pure perfection is your goal, buy this note, whatever it costs. It will simply prove to be irreplaceable.

Fr. 241 $2 1886 Silver Certificate Superb Gem New. This Rosecrans-Hyatt signed Small Seal Hancock Deuce is by far the rarer of the two numbers of this type. The census shows Fr. 241 to be outnumbered very nearly two-to-one by its type mate, Fr. 240. This note, which comes to us from the Sedona collection, has spectacularly deep original embossing to go along with its ideal color, huge margins and super freshness. Locating another the likes of this piece would be a task that could take many years. But why bother? This one is here now.

An extremely rare early San Jose note, as the list of pre-1902 Series survivors from here (of course excluding Gold Bank Notes) is made up of two $50 Brown Backs, two $50 Date Backs, and this lone $5 Date Back. Lowell was offered this note some years ago and paid a stiff price, even then realizing its significance and rarity. With no others to choose from, expect the many collectors of this town's notes to make this a most popular and sought after lot. Fine.

White Plains, NY - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First NB Ch. # (E)6351
A truly rare note from the Westchester County seat. This bank issued Third Charters only before liquidating in 1920, and sports a total census population of just five pieces, with just two of that number being Red Seals. Two examples from this bank have long been in one major Westchester County collection, including the other Red Seal, which we sold almost three decades ago. When we displayed this piece at our table in Memphis earlier this year it met first with stunned silence, then with a bevy of collectors declaring their intention to own it when it became available. What it will bring tonight is anyone's guess, but the victor here will take home a true New York trophy item. Very Fine.

Fr. 1310 50c First Issue Very Choice New. Fully and deeply perforated all the way around. The note is beautifully bright, with ideal back centering and face centering that is perfect on three sides and just slightly close at the right end of the top. That minor centering anomaly is all that prevents the Gem grade. A very tough type to find this nice.
