Heritage's Latest CurrencyAuction.com™ Sale Results in Record Sell-Through Rate
Dallas, Texas: The CurrencyAuction.com™ Sale that closed Sunday, April 30 set new and exciting records for Heritage Numismatic Auction, Inc. The sale opened for on-line bidders on April 16 with a total of 344 lots. "By the end of its two week period on-line, we registered a staggering 277 lots sold in our latest currency auction. This number represents 80% of those in the sale," observed Heritage's CurrencyAuction.com™ Consignment Coordinator Holli Hughes. "This is the highest sell-through rate that we have yet recorded. Given the fact that our CurrencyAuction.com™ program keeps improving upon itself, however, I anticipate that even this week's impressive statistics will soon be outstripped in successive sales."This currency auction realized $26,042. The leader of the pack was a rare 1891 $20 Silver Certificate, Fr-321 in VF that sold for $1,550. Apparently the lucky bidder heeded the cataloger's advice: "Do not pass up this note as the opportunity to find one this nice may not happen again for quite a while." An equally elusive 1886 $10 Silver Certificate, Fr-292, VF took second place with a realized price of $1,300, and the bidding closed at $625 for a 1923 $5 Silver Certificate, Fr-282. The latter note, a representative of the popular Porthole design, had been graded VF-XF.
