Description
Finest Graded Overprinted Rarity
China Bank of China 5 Dollars, Shanghai 1909 (ND 1912) Pick
17i S/M#C294-2i PMG Very Fine 30.The Bank of China's first series of banknotes were overprinted on Qing Dynasty notes from the Ta Ching Government Bank. This fantastic 5 Dollars, issued via Shanghai, is the finest graded example in the PMG Population Report with only four notes in the census at the time of writing. Light circulation, good colors, and ink rub are mentioned for accuracy. These overprinted notes were issued while waiting for fresh notes from the American Banknote Company to be printed and delivered, which occurred in late 1912 or the following year. Nevertheless, this provisional issue is very scarce and missing from many collections.

PMG Very Fine 30。
