New York, NY- A(ugust) L. Sieghortner 15¢; 25¢ (2); 50¢ 1862 Harris H969; H970 (2); H971 Fine or better
August L. Sieghortner ran a restaurant located at 120 and 32 Pearl Street in New York. He issued a series of spectacular large size format scrip notes which have a number of interesting features. Some notes are payable in trade while others are payable on demand. One note in this group has the "on demand" language crossed out and "in Trade" written in. Some notes are stamped on the back TO BE REDEEMED / IN GOLD OR SILVER. / A.L.S. This group of four notes will make an interesting study project for the new owner. Included in this lot of four notes is:

15¢ Payable in Trade - Dated June 20, 1862 - Signed with Sieghortner's name by his attorney. A few ink splotches. Very Fine;
25¢ Payable on Demand - Dated Feb. 7, 1862 - Signed by Sieghortner. Gold or Silver redemption pledge stamped on back. Fine with two tape repaired splits and some toning and staining;
25¢ Same as the other example but in Very Fine on bright paper;
50¢ "on Demand" struck out and replaced with "in Trade" in red ink. Dated Nov. 12, '62 Signed with Sieghortner's name by his attorney. Extremely Fine-About Uncirculated. (Total: 4 notes)
